Foil Stampin’ USA
May 25, 2016We’ve mentioned our brand new gold foil-stamped card collection here before, but we wanted to share with you a bit about the fascinating process that goes into these cards!
When foil-stamp printing, a metal die-cut (usually brass, copper or magnesium) is created with a raised reverse image of the foiled image, just like a day-to-day rubber stamp–similar to embossing. Foil film is then placed between the die and the card stock, where heat and pressure are added to create a shimmery, shiny image that is unique in its metallic sheen. Just the right temperature is needed for the adhesive to fuse the image, while not overheating and bubbling the foil. Thermography and lithography don’t even come close to this glossy look!
We are so proud of our new collection, with designs by illustrators, Yelena Bryksenkova, Lesley Barnes, Christian Robinson, Becca Stadtlander, Nicholas John Frith, Anna Emilia Laitinen, and Chris Sasaki. View the entirety of the new gold foil collection, here.
